Holden’s 1 billion dollar baby is set to become the new Pontiac G8. Conceived over 7 years the VE range was released in July 2006 in Melbourne. General Motors revealed on Febuary 8th that production of the G8 will begin at Elizabeth later in the year and the car will be in the Pontiac showrooms early next? year.

Pontiac introduced a show version of the car at the Chicago Auto Show two weeks ago. The Pontiac G8 takes on a different look to the VE however, with the most significant changes being to the front bar, grille and bonnet.

The export program will expand the model range to 18 local and 15 export variants. Holden is expecting to export as many as 50,000 Pontiac G8’s. Holden has Australia’s longest running and largest export program which has seen more than 772,000 vehicles exported over 50 years to every continent except Antartica. Have to admit it’s one fine piece of machinery!
